For healthcare professionals
Refer a patient to Hillcrest
Fast, thorough ADHD, autism and mental health assessments for your patients — with full clinical reports returned within 5 working days.
NHS Right to Choose
Under NHS England's Right to Choose policy, patients with a GP referral for ADHD assessment are entitled to choose any CQC-registered provider — including Hillcrest. Once our CQC registration is confirmed, your patients can access our service at no cost to them, with NHS tariff reimbursement.
We will notify referring GPs as soon as Right to Choose referrals are accepted. In the meantime, we welcome self-funded and insured referrals.
Assessment services
We accept referrals for patients who meet the following criteria.
ADHD Assessment
Comprehensive diagnostic assessment using gold-standard tools including DIVA 2.0, Conners, and CAARS. Full written report with DSM-5 diagnostic conclusions and treatment recommendations.
Autism Assessment
Structured diagnostic assessment using ADOS-2 and ADI-R protocols. Suitable for adults and children. Full written report with clinical findings and support recommendations.
Mental Health Assessment
Comprehensive psychiatric assessment covering mood, anxiety, trauma, and co-occurring conditions. Suitable for complex presentations requiring specialist input.
Referral process
For service users needing assessment, diagnosis or treatment, referrals are initiated via their GP. In some cases, further screening appointments will be booked with the neighbourhood mental health teams prior to referral to our service.
Once referred, you will be added to our waiting list for your referral to be screened by a clinician. The current wait times for this are approximately 24 months.
You will be sent a letter from our team to let you know if your referral has been accepted or if you have been closed to the service (and the reason for this). Once accepted, there is a further wait of approximately 26 months for you to be seen by a clinician for assessment (that is 50 months altogether). Please note these waiting times are shorter for patients who already have a diagnosis and are in need of a medication review.
It is important that you check with your GP, before seeing us, that they are willing to share care in the event that you are diagnosed and treated for ADHD. Some GPs do not accept shared care and, in this instance, you will be unable to access medication on discharge from our service.
