For children, we also gather information from parents and school.

How long does an assessment take?

A full ADHD assessment typically takes 2–3 hours, including the clinical interview and any additional questionnaires. The written report is usually delivered within 5–7 working days of your appointment.

Do you assess children as well as adults?

Yes. We assess both children (from age 6) and adults. Our clinicians are experienced in identifying ADHD presentations across all age groups, including adults who were not diagnosed in childhood.

Question 4

What is the difference between an ADHD and autism assessment?

Accepted Answer

An ADHD assessment focuses on attention, impulsivity, and hyperactivity using tools such as the DIVA-5. An autism assessment uses the ADOS-2 and ADI-R protocols to evaluate social communication, sensory processing, and behavioural patterns. Both conditions can co-occur, and we offer combined assessments where appropriate.

Can I be assessed for both ADHD and autism at the same time?

Yes. We offer combined ADHD and autism assessments. Many people present with overlapping traits, and a combined assessment gives a more complete clinical picture. Please mention this when booking so we can allocate the appropriate time.

How do I book an assessment?

You can book directly through our online booking form. Simply select the type of assessment, provide some basic details, and a member of our team will be in touch within one working day to confirm your appointment and send pre-assessment questionnaires.

How long is the waiting time?

Most clients are seen within 2–4 weeks of enquiring. We aim to keep waiting times short so you can get the clarity you need without unnecessary delay.

Question 8

Do I need a GP referral?

Accepted Answer

No. You can self-refer directly to Hillcrest without a GP referral. However, if you have a referral letter or any previous assessments or reports, please bring these to your appointment as they can be helpful context.

Are assessments conducted in person or online?

We offer both in-person assessments at our London clinic (71–75 Shelton Street, WC2H 9JQ) and remote assessments via secure video call. Please indicate your preference when booking.

What should I bring to my appointment?

Please bring a form of photo ID and any previous reports, school records, or medical letters that may be relevant. If you have completed pre-assessment questionnaires, please ensure these are submitted at least 48 hours before your appointment.

How much does an assessment cost?

Do you accept insurance?

We are working towards recognition with major private health insurers. Please contact us with your insurer's details and we will advise whether your policy may cover the assessment.

What is your cancellation policy?

Accepted Answer

We require at least 48 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule an appointment. Cancellations made with less than 48 hours' notice may be subject to a cancellation fee. Please see our Terms & Conditions for full details.

What happens if I receive a diagnosis?

If a diagnosis is confirmed, your clinician will discuss the findings with you in detail and outline the recommended next steps. This may include medication management, psychological therapies, or referral to other specialists. We provide a comprehensive written report you can share with your GP, employer, or school.

Can you prescribe ADHD medication?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Our lead clinician Walter M Tavaziva is a qualified Non-Medical Prescriber (NMP V300) and can prescribe ADHD medication where clinically appropriate. We follow NICE guidelines for medication initiation and monitoring.

Will my GP be informed of the outcome?

With your consent, we will write to your GP to inform them of the assessment outcome and any treatment recommendations. This helps ensure continuity of care and allows your GP to support your ongoing management.

Do you offer ongoing support after diagnosis?

Yes. We offer a range of post-diagnostic support including medication management, psychological therapies, and coaching. Our team is here for the long term — not just for the assessment itself.
